Cake Boards / Drums
Cake drum boards are a thicker, heavier duty type of cake board at a standard 12mm thickness. These suit a variety of cakes including tiered cakes where a thicker cake board is need to support weights of cakes. They can also be used in between tiers to add height, and the edges finished with ribbon to match the celebration theme. We always recommend if you are making fruit cakes that are iced with royal icing drum boards recommended to prevent cracking of the royal icing; thinner boards can bend causing a ‘stress’ to the icing.
